Introduction

The purpose of this bibliography is to provide an extensive list of English-language research materials useful for the study of Christianity in Thailand. The standard for inclusion is that each entry is about and contributes something useful to the study of Christianity in Thailand. While exceptions have undoubtedly crept in, as a rule items that are about Christianity in Thailand but, in my judgment, not useful to its study are excluded. Sources that may be very useful to the study of Christianity in Thailand but are not about it directly have also been excluded. By the same token, some well-known works by Thai Christians and missionaries who served in Thailand are not contained in the bibliography because they are not about Christianity in Thailand as such. Individual articles found in the publications listed in the section "Newspapers, Magazines, and Journals" are generally excluded in order to preserve space. In some cases, however, important individual articles are included, especially ones from major journals.

This is not an annotated bibliography, but in a few cases it does provide a brief note on the subject of an item [in brackets] if the subject of the entry is not clear from its bibliographic information. The bibliography uses a Chicago Manual of Style (13th edition) format, and in keeping with an accepted convention Thai authors are alphabetized by first name.
